Breast Enlargement
Breast enlargement is the UK's most common form of cosmetic surgery. Small breasts or breasts that have decreased in size following childbirth can be a source of embarrassment to a woman. But breast enlargement is one way to make you feel more feminine again.
There are many different types of implant available for breast enlargement and breast augmentation in the UK. However, all of the implants that we use carry the European CE mark of quality assurance. Your surgeon will discuss your expectations during a consultation with him prior to the procedure. The increase in size will of course be governed by what is medically possible which will depend on your particular circumstances. However, typically an increase of 2 cup sizes is achieved.

Your questions answered
What does the procedure involve?
A breast enlargement procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic over a 1 - 2 hour procedure. by our highly experienced MySpa medical team. The implant is normally inserted through an incision made in the natural crease beneath the breast. It is also possible to make the incision in the armpit or around the edge of the areola.
What happens after the surgery?
Following breast enlargement surgery, you will need to keep your breasts well supported. Your stitches and/or dressings will be removed after seven days, at which time you can return to work. Typically our patients have described their experience as uncomfortable rather than painful. Your breasts will feel sore and tender for about a week following the operation and you will experience a certain amount of post-operative bruising - which is normal.
There are occasions where patients may be discharged on the same day as their operation - but only if all the medical staff are fully satisfied that they have met the discharge criteria. It is more common for the procedure to be followed by an overnight stay in one of the hospitals that we use. We recommend that you take 10 - 14 days off work to aid your full and speedy recovery. After that two-week period your life can return to normal - but with the additional boost to your self-esteem and confidence that your new figure will give you.
