Pectoral Implants
Although diet and exercise can improve the shape and appearance of your chest, it may not always be enough. A number of factors including lifestyle, ageing and frequent changes in weight, can make your chest muscles weaken and begin to sag. By placing implants under the muscles, the projection and bulk of the pectorals can be increased. However, it must be noted that implants will not improve the definition of the muscles. So whilst your pectoral muscles will look bigger and more pronounced, they will not have a defined muscular shape.
To aid recovery, you should follow advice from your MySpa surgeon - he/she will advise on how long it will take for you to return to normal activities. The chest may be sore for a number of days and we recommend that you take one to two weeks off work to recover from the operation. You should not do exercises for up to six weeks while your chest gets used to the implants.
MySpa offers a comprehensive and extensive post-operative care programme which will provide you with detailed instructions and follow-up appointments with your MySpa surgeon and our dedicated medical staff.
A website is no substitute for the specially tailored advice that you need before making this important decision. If pectoral implants are something you are considering, please take advantage of our free, no-obligation consultation with one of our friendly and well informed care co-ordinators.
Your questions answered
What does the procedure involve?
One of our expert MySpa surgeons will place a small cut along the armpit crease and the implants will be placed directly underneath the chest muscle. Any scarring will be hidden under the armpit but your MySpa surgeon will discuss this with you before the operation.
What is the duration of the hospital stay?
The procedure can be carried out as day-case surgery under a general anaesthetic and you will be allowed to go home following recovery from the anaesthetic. In some cases you may be required to stay overnight.
