Laser Facial Rejuvenation
Facial Rejuvenation with Pulsed Light Photo- Rejuvenation
Photo-rejuvenation is a dynamic non-invasive procedure using intense pulsed light [IPL] or
variable pulsed light (VPL) to rejuvenate the skin.
IPL and VPL supplies a broad spectrum of light that reaches deep down to the collagen level
of the skin. The therapeutic light energy is transformed to heat energy. The target tissue is
then fragmented and absorbed without damage to the surrounding skin. The skin surface is left
smooth and rejuvenated, and collagen and elastin fibres are stimulated to improve the tone and
texture of the skin.
Your questions answered
- What conditions can be treated by Intense and Variable Pulsed Light photo-rejuvenation?
-
The most common conditions treated by IPL or VPL photo-rejuvenation include age spots,
rosacea,
broken blood vessels/capillaries,
port wine stains,
poor skin tone & texture,
acne scarring,
active acne and
freckles.
- How is the photorejuvenation procedure performed?
-
A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. The smooth glass surface of the pulsed
light hand piece is gently placed on your skin and pulses of light are applied. A slight sting,
like the snapping of a small rubber band, will be felt. Treatment is administered in a series
of procedures that provides excellent, long-term results and high client satisfaction.
- How many IPL/VPL photorejuvenation treatments will I need?
-
The number of IPL/VPL treatments needed is determined by the condition being treated.
Typically, age spots and broken blood vessels on the face, will require one to three
treatments. Rosacea usually requires five to six treatments with a maintenance treatment every
3-6 months. Your practitioner will always advise you on the number of treatments required.
- What are the side effects of IPL/VPL photorejuvenation treatments?
-
The most common side effects after an IPL/VPL treatment include redness and mild swelling.
When treating age spots or brown spots, they will become more apparent immediately after the
treatment. They will then gradually fall off over the course of a few weeks. Make-up and
moisturizers may be applied immediately after the treatment.
- Does it hurt?
-
Most clients describe an elastic band sensation or warm needle-like sensation during the
treatment. A topical anaesthetic may be applied prior to the treatment to minimize discomfort.
Afterwards, clients may experience a slight sunburn-like sensation that usually resolves within
an hour after the treatment.
- How do I know the clinic is safe?
-
Always attend a clinic with an experienced practitioner or therapist, and ensure it is
registered with the Healthcare Commission. At MySpa Clinics we pride ourselves on our standards
of care and all our clinics are registered with the Healthcare Commission.
