Medical Tattooing

Medical tattooing is a method of implanting coloured pigments and blending them into the skin to camouflage an imperfection, or to create and optical effect such as an areola or hair. It can be successful for the treatment of burns, scars, cleft lip restoration and areola restoration.

Medical Tattooing can be used for:

Burns
Once the skin has healed, cosmetic pigment camouflage can be used to camouflage and blend the skin to the surrounding skin tissue and create the illusion of smooth skin. Asymmetry problems and skin colour effects can be corrected to help recreate as normal an appearance as possible.

Scar Camouflage
Colour pigments are implanted to match the scar to the colour of the surrounding skin tone. Scars need to be given time to heal so medical tattooing cannot take place until at least 12 months post scarring. Typical scars that can be treated include accidents, injuries or surgical scars.

Breast Surgery or Reconstruction.
Following breast surgery for cosmetic or medical reasons some women may find they are left with scars, uneven or no areola. Medical tattooing can create, re-colour or even out areola resulting in a more natural look.

Cleft Lip - Medical tattooing can dramatically improve the appearance of a cleft lip by creating symmetrical shaped lips.
